Twenty seven Americans participated in a “voluntourism” trip with Ascend International and her partners (TBL Leadership Partners, Chrysalis Asia) during the month of November.  AI refers to these trips as “l2L” trips. We are serving emerging leaders in China to help them transform from “small l” leaders to “big L leaders.”

How did they serve tomorrow’s leaders?

• Hundreds of students received job interview/resume training to equip them to better interview with international companies
• Hundreds of students were given sound advice on managing their schedules, determining life purpose, working with others, understanding themselves, developing their emotional intelligence, leading as women, international business and a host of other topics.
• TBL Student Club Leaders in Nanjing were given free emotional intelligence assessments in coordination with Multi-Health Systems in order to be healthier people and improved leaders. A number of American professionals met to formalize a development plan for serving these emerging leaders in Nanjing, China.
• Approximately one hundred students and volunteers participated in the TBL Leadership Forum where top student leaders in Nanjing were given a great meal, great input from twenty five American professionals and each other and inspiration to make their life count.
• American professionals conducted seminars and trainings in: Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, Qingdao and Weihai. Professionals advised hundreds of students in one and one and small group gatherings in these cities.
• Collaboration was strengthened between Ascend International and a host of her Chinese partners: universities, leadership development companies, high schools, and consulting companies in various cities.
• The first “Society of Young Professionals” was convened in Nanjing where Chinese, young professionals had a chance to connect with each other and American professionals while also receiving training in emotional intelligence and resolving conflict.
